Community News: AstenJohnson Appleton Hosts Paper Science Students

On Friday, March 9, the Appleton Plant hosted a tour for fourteen Junior and Senior Paper Science students from University of Wisconsin (UWSP) in Stevens Point, WI. Jack Ring, Sarah Spalding and David Curtis (UWSP graduate) kicked things off with a welcome and safety overview. Mike Boettcher presented a virtual
tour of the Appleton Plant along with an overview of forming fabric technology in general.

After lunch and a tour of the Appleton Plant, Mike, Rae Patel, Troy Shulfer (UWSP graduate) and Terry Coenen held a Question & Answer Session. This allows the students to learn more about what the paper industry is all about, what we do at AstenJohnson, opportunities for new employees in the paper industry and what
they can expect on a daily basis as they enter the manufacturing and/or supplier world.

This was an excellent opportunity to start teaching the AstenJohnson brand to a group of young professionals. AstenJohnson University and the Second Edition of the Paper Machine Clothing book were also discussed with the group.

Thank you to the Appleton Plant for hosting the event.
