Charleston, South Carolina August 22, 2022
AstenJohnson, technical fabrics manufacturer, has been awarded the "Bronze" Medal for the second time by the EcoVadis rating agency, specialized in assessing environmental performance and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
EcoVadis evaluates more than 75,000 companies on their environmental performance based on 21 indicators divided into four categories: environment, labor & human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. The evaluation method, which is based on international standards such as ISO 26000 and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), analyzes the policies in place as well as the actions taken, and the results obtained.
The bronze medal indicates AstenJohnson is in the top 50% of global companies in the same industry, with the most advanced CSR approaches.
Although sustainable business practices have always been part of AstenJohnson culture, in 2020, we renewed its efforts and brought AstenJohnson to a higher level of sustainability. “In 2021 and 2022, we continued our work and adopted best practices, recognized by EcoVadis. Thanks to the ambitious goals we set, and the collaboration between our associates and our partners, we have improved our sustainability impact,” explains Anaëlle Roemans, Global Sustainability Manager at AstenJohnson.
By adopting best practices, AstenJohnson has improved sustainability results in the areas of circularity, carbon reduction, sustainable procurement, non-discrimination, ethics, and diversity. Compared to the previous year’s assessment, AstenJohnson has made notable progress in the sustainable procurement category, which has been recognized by EcoVadis.
With sustainability as a core value, AstenJohnson continues to support the Sustainable Development Goals developed by the United Nations, as well as the UN Global Compact principles, and uses them as guidelines to continue its CSR development. The organization pledged to manage its environmental footprint, protect its workers, and conduct business in a manner that protects the future.
AstenJohnson is committed to providing the best to its associates and its community by using the CSR approach. Earning the bronze medal is recognition of the company’s progress thus far and motivates all associates to continue to act in the present while thinking about the future. As CEO Kevin Frank affirms, "Together we can continue to innovate for the benefit of our customers, our planet and ourselves!"
